New: Pin branch to left: Added support for pinning a branch to the left side of the Commit Graph. Right-click a pinned branch to unpin. Smart Branch Filtering: Added smart branch filtering mode to focus the graph on the current branch and its related target/upstream refs. Restore files from any commit: Right-click on files in a commit to restore them to your working directory. Works with single or multiple file selections. Sparse Checkout Support: GitKraken Desktop can now work with sparse checkouts! You can also perform sparse checkouts when cloning a repo, and set sparse checkout rules for the open repo from the settings. GitKraken AI: Added support for Google Gemini 3 Flash. Improvements: GitKraken AI: Updated default AI model to Google Gemini 2.5 Flash and removed deprecated Gemini 1.5 and 2.0 models. Experimental Feature – Git Executable: Bumped Bundled Git to v2.53.0. Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug that prevented multi-selection options from appearing in the stash context menu in the left panel. Fixed an issue where the ‘Copy file path’ context menu option would not work for files in a worktree or a submodule. Fixed an issue where external changes made in worktrees (such as commits from the terminal) were not being detected. Fixed an issue where pulling with fast-forward failed with “Could not apply stash” when there were uncommitted changes. Deprecation Notice ?? GitHub Actions has been removed from the Left Panel to simplify navigation. Existing GitHub Actions workflows will continue to run normally. To update workflow files, edit and commit them directly within your repository. |

New: Shallow Clone Settings: You can now set shallow clone options directly in the Clone Repository dialog from Repository Management or the Launchpad tab. Experimental Feature – Git Executable: Added a new “Squash” setting under Commit preferences to squash commits when merging branches. Word Wrap Toggle Added button to enable word wrapping in diff view, file view, file history, and merge conflict resolution panels. Bug Fixes: Trello integrations will now work again. Fixed internal file links in markdown preview showing an external link icon and not opening when clicked. Fixed an issue where GitKraken Desktop would fail to start on x86_64 linux distributions older than GLIBC 2.33 (Ubuntu <= 20.04, Debian <= 11, etc.). |

New: ARM for Linux & Windows: Linux and Windows users on ARM should visit (https://gitkraken.com/download) to ensure the correct build for their chip architecture. Shallow Clones: Shallow Clones can now be created directly from GitKraken Desktop as part of the clone workflow instead of requiring manual creation outside the app. Bug Fixes: Fixed inconsistent code block styling in issue and pull request views. AI context menu items (such as “Explain working changes” and “Explain branch changes”) will no longer appear when AI is disabled in settings or when the organization does not allow AI. Users who provide their own OpenAI API key will no longer get an error when resolving conflicts with GPT-5 models. Switching providers in the AI preferences will no longer confuse GitKraken Desktop about which provider’s AI models to show in the dropdowns. Fixed excessive whitespace in Jira automation comments and improved visual distinction of status badges. Modernization Notice: Custom Themes: Custom themes have been disabled in 11.8.0 as we modernize the UI for better performance and maintainability. Our new architecture requires rebuilding theme support from the ground up. Light, dark, and high-contrast themes will remain available during the transition. We plan to restore custom theme support once the modernization is complete. |
