Feature: Output now shows if an error is suspected to be due to Long Paths not being enabled in Windows (Documentation) Fix: Extension Publish improved to ensure no missing DLL causing issues with Compile/Intellisense (Reported Here and Here) Update: Tools > Options > System: Added "Windows Long Paths Enabled" to expose the Windows setting for long paths for easier user guidance. Fix: GCC v7-2017q4 has issues with long paths (especially Portable) even with LongPathsEnabled in Windows, for many board packages, resulting in the bits/c++config.h not being found (generally). Adding direct include to toolchain fixes this. Affects Board Packages mbed_edge, mbed_giga, mbed_nano, mbed_nicla, mbed_opta, mbed_portenta, mbed_rp2040, renesas_portenta, samd, renesas_uno, mbed [DEPRECATED] (Historical Report Example) Fix: When changing "FileSystemUploadTool" or "Automatic FS Upload" after compilation the Deep Search & Build Caching could be invalidated on ESP32, ESP8266, Teensy with no technical reason to invalidate the cache (if FQBN is used in Compile recipes). |

Fix: Add Code > Add Custom GDB Debugger: now correctly names the debugger_launch.json for Portenta H7 (previously the build.board={build.variant} property was not expanded. Fix: Package Index files were incorrectly restored from .vMicroCache to the Arduino15packages folder instead of the Arduino15 Folder creating duplicates. Fix: SAM Boards: Upload Using Programmer "Jlink" didn't fully force SWD Mode previously (Reported Here) Fix: After opening a Portable Solution, the portablesketchbook path wasn't cleared, so creating a new project without closing Visual Micro caused it to be created beneath the previous PortableSketchbook folder. Fix: Board Manager: Installation Failed silently for long paths (e.g. ESP32 V3.1.0++ "arduino-idf-libraries" contains very long internal paths) which resolves issues installing boards, especially in Portable Solutions. Fix: When locked folders are encountered on clearing TempBuildFolder, the files/folders locked are listed with working URLs in the output |

Fix: Prevent Deep Search Cache being cleared on Build Failure. Can be forced to clear on failure with local board.txt entry vm.settings.gcc-e.clear-cache-on-compiler-error=true Fix: Ensure Serial Monitor is opened when Auto-Open Serial Monitor is enabled when using Upload Last Build (Reported Here) Fix: Library Manager: New installations did not show full library Index (XZ Files now extracted to TEMP Dir (*.tar) before extracting to targetDir. Caused Issues with Library_index.xz failing to extract on new installations.) Fix: Board Manager/Contribution Installer/Remover: Folders were failing to delete due to long paths causing multiple partial tool installs, and failure to unpack tools. Fixed with UNC path delete when exceptions occur (Reported Here and Here) Fix: Library Installer: Dependencies could be incorrectly re-installed or result in the "Object Reference Not Set to an Instance of an Object" Error due to dependency resolution incorrectly replacing chars in dependency names as first try. Version Constraints now trimmed as well to avoid issues (e.g. Watchy Library and Arduino_JSON Dependency). |
